Your first year at Henry Ford Hospital is the clinical
year, and is integrated into the residency. You will no need to match into a
separate intern year.
You will rotate through:
1.
Five months of inpatient internal medicine
2. Emergency Medicine
3. Three months of radiology
Internal medicine consists of general medicine, pulmonary, nephrology, cardiology, heme/onc, and infectious disease. In general, there is overnight
call every fourth night on the General Medicine months. Night float works on
the subspecialty floors, and overnight call is only taken on the weekends.
You still have to take overnight call on the weekends.
Emergency medicine consists of 16-18 shifts,
depending on the length of the month. All of emergency medicine is shift
work.
You will rotate through 3 months of radiology and be dictating on your first day! All of your vacation will be taken during your radiology rotations.
Thankfully, there is no ICU call during your intern year!
